Description
Hebrides Ensemble is delighted to make its first appearance at Hidden Door in a programme of huge contrasts.
We move from the evocative sound world of Scottish-based composer David Fennessy, to a tribute to the musicians of Ukraine with a moving solo work by Viktor Sylvestrov, and conclude with the pulsating rhythms of Steve Reich’s New York Counterpoint. The programme opens with the world premiere of Ștefan Niculescu’s Echos II, arranged for violin and Brainfingers, an adaptive instrument that enables special guest artist Chris Jacquin from Drake Music Scotland to join Hebrides Ensemble players in an exciting and collaborative way.
This year’s Hidden Door is bringing the old Royal High School, Edinburgh on Calton Hill to life for the 10 days of the festival. Hebrides Ensemble will be performing in the magnificent Pianodrome space.
