BBC SSO: Messiaen's 'Quartet For The End of Time'

Repertoire Quartet For The End of Time, by Olivier Messiaen

Olivier Messiaen was a prisoner of war in Germany when he wrote this extraordinary quartet for his fellow captives. Inspired by the Book of Revelation, it is deeply rooted in his Christian faith and a profoundly beautiful testament to the human spirit in the face of overwhelming horror. The orchestra’s new Chief Conductor, Ryan Wigglesworth, joins principal players to perform this astonishing, humane, transcendental quartet, marking 30 years since the composer’s death.

This concerts ends at approximately 9:00pm.
