Call for Delegate Interest
Deadline: 20 Jul 2025
Expressions of interest are invited from composers based in Scotland who would like to join a delegation to the Nordic Music Days festival in Reykjavik, Iceland, from the 13th – 16th October, 2022.
The delegation will attend performances and meet with composers, performers, and producers from the Nordic Countries. The aim of the delegation is to develop relationships that will benefit individual artists and the wider music sector in Scotland. We also hope that these connections will support a proposal for Scotland to host the festival in 2024 (not yet confirmed) and join the Nordic Composers’ Council.
Interest is invited from composers with connections to contemporary classical / new music genres who feel that they would have something to offer to the project, as well as see potential for their own career development through building links with the Nordic countries.
Funding support available
A grant from Creative Scotland is being administered by the RSNO to meet the delegation’s costs. For freelance delegates, funds are available to cover travel, accommodation and subsistence.
We will also support additional access costs as required. We encourage applications from D/deaf, disabled or neurodivergent individuals and will work with you to meet access requirements (including the need for a support person to join the delegation). We also recognise that applicants may need to put in place childcare arrangements beyond those used routinely and we will work collaboratively to meet requirements. Please let us know when applying what we can make available to support your attendance.
Travel and accommodation will be booked on delegates’ behalf.
The delegation is open to Scotland-based composers with connections to contemporary classical and new music genres are invited to apply. Successful applicants must be able to demonstrate that they are ready to take advantage of this opportunity. We anticipate supporting 8-10 delegate places through an open call and targeted invitations.
· Applicants must be currently resident in Scotland.
· Applicants must be working in / have close connections with contemporary classical / new music genres.
· Full-time students cannot apply to this fund. Part-time students can apply, but will need to prove their part-time status and that the activity they are applying for does not contribute to their academic studies.
