Finding Your Voice Workshop (for those who have faced barriers in singing due to their gender) – Presented by OVER / AT & Wharf Chambers
- 8 May 2021, 10 a.m., Zoom, (on-line), None
Description
We have named this workshop ‘Finding Your Voice’, but the real story is a little more complex. In the journey towards authenticity and self-actualisation the voice is more often like a living, breathing animal than a solid object. You might see it and find it out of the corner of your eye, but in foraging to looking for it, you lose it again.
In this session, we will explore ways to glance aside for your voice. This will include exploring your experience of your own speaking voice, both physical and emotional, the space you are speaking in, and accessible in-roads to your singing voice.
We will be creating and sharing personal responses or ‘translations’ of a piece of text that we will work on during the session.
The workshop will be an informal, sociable space which may be of interest to artists in any medium, writers, musicians, and improvisers looking to explore vocal approaches to material. However, no artistic experience is necessary.
This workshop is for those who have faced barriers in singing or vocalising due to their gender – this may include trans, non-binary, and otherwise gender-diverse folk.
Spaces are limited, book yours here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/151083860895
