The Royal Swedish Opera is seeking an experienced and visionary leader with the ability to enthuse creative, committed and skilled employees.
As Sweden’s national stage for opera and ballet, the Royal Swedish Opera should be accessible to everyone and move audiences with powerful, emotional performances. The Royal Swedish Opera is a wholly owned limited liability company with an annual turnover of SEK 600 million and approximately 700 employees who come from more than 20 different countries and represent over 120 positions.
The activities of the Royal Swedish Opera are divided into three artistic sections: opera, ballet and activities for children and young people. Each section has its own artistic director, who is responsible for the content and planning of the activities. Together with seven additional functional managers, these artistic directors make up the management team.
Role
In interaction with the employees, owners, board of directors and management team, the CEO has overall responsibility for ensuring that the Royal Swedish Opera is led in an exemplary manner and that the organisation enjoys public confidence.
At an operational level, the CEO is responsible for day-to-day management and for carefully coordinating the company’s operations in accordance with the applicable regulations.
The CEO has overall responsibility for some major ongoing projects, such as renovation of the Opera House, a new production centre, continued digitalisation, and the development of leadership to create a more change-prone culture.
The CEO is responsible for the ongoing dialogue with the Ministry of Culture and, together with other representatives in the cultural sector, for ensuring a long-term sustainable society where culture continues to be of great importance.
The CEO is responsible for pursuing the strategic goals:
