PRSF Youth Music Sonica Glasgow 2022 Open Call
Deadline: 2 Dec 2021
Sonica Glasgow, sonic art for the visually minded, the award winning 10-day biennial festival, dedicated to world-class visual sonic arts, is looking for visual live music performances or sonic installations by up to five Scottish based early career artists aged 18-25. Their work will be presented alongside exceptional international artists and UK talent at Sonica from 10 – 20 March 2022. Launched at Tramway in 2012, Sonica has presented more than 980 events in venues around the city, reaching over 180,000 people.
We recognise that access to opportunities, developing a career and earning a living in the music industry is not equally shared. We are offering tailored artistic mentoring and high-profile paid performance opportunities to young artists to support them in their creative journey and are particularly keen to encourage applications from artists who are currently underrepresented or under-supported in the creative and culture sector or who have faced barriers because of who they are or where they live, including, but not limited to, under-represented Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+ identities, gender identities, low socioeconomic backgrounds, those with disabilities and/or caring responsibilities.
We are looking for existing sound installations and live music performances with visuals which require no further development, though the successful artist will receive creative mentoring and support from the Cryptic team.
The Call Out is not open to undergraduate students, students in full time education, or those living outside Scotland.
