Call for Scottish Works - Nordic Music Journeys: Sweden and Scotland

Description

In collaboration with the RSNO, Föreninten Svenska Tonsättare (Swedish Society of Composers), and STIM (the Swedish Performing Rights Society), there will be a showcase event for Swedish and Scottish composers, which will take place in Glasgow on Saturday 13th January, 2024.

Gothenburg-based ensemble Gageego! will perform works by Swedish composers and creators, and Hebrides Ensemble will perform works by Scottish composers and creators.

The performances will be open to the public, and there will also be an invited list of programmers, ensemble and festival directors, and music press.

The submission deadline will be 5pm on Wednesday 20th December.

Works submitted must be:

- For any combination of violin, viola, cello and horn OR for electronics (quadraphonic set up, to be performed by the creator)
- In either conventional or unconventional notation
- Up to 12 minutes in length – if from a longer work then an excerpt(s) of up to 12 minutes should be submitted
- Created within the last 10 years
- Submitted by the creator (who must be either resident in Scotland since 1st Jan 2022, or can demonstrate a strong association with Scotland)

The creator must be available to attend a rehearsal on the 12th January and the event on the 13th January.

Submissions should be of a score and/or recording (as available) and creator biography. Please include a paragraph outlining your connection to Scotland.
