Call for works - Nordic Music Journeys 2025: Sweden and Scotland

In collaboration with Föreningen Svenska Tonsättare (Swedish Society of Composers), and with support from STIM (the Swedish Performing Rights Society), Art Music Scotland will present a showcase event for Swedish and Scottish composers, which will take place in Glasgow on Monday 6 October 2025.

Scottish Ensemble will perform works by composers and creators from Sweden and Scotland, alongside a dedicated space for 4-channel acousmatic and installation works.

The performances will be open to the public, and there will also be an invited list of programmers, ensemble and festival directors, and music professionals.

Works submitted must be:

EITHER
• Works or excerpts of up to 6 mins in length for any combination of violin (x2), viola, cello, double bass, electronics (2-channel, Front of House position)
OR
• Works or excerpts of up to 4 mins in length for a solo performer (violin, viola, cello, or double bass), with or without electronics (2-channel, Front of House position)
OR
• Works or excerpts of up to 6 mins in length for 4-channel acousmatic works only

• In either conventional or unconventional notation
• Created within the last 5 years
• Submitted by the creator (Scottish creators must be members of either New Music Scotland or the Scottish Music Centre, and Swedish creators must be affiliated to STIM)

NB Only one submission per person is allowed

The creator must be available to attend a rehearsal on 5 October and the event on the 6 October, both in Glasgow.

Submissions should be of a score and/or recording (as available) and a creator biography.

Submissions should be uploaded to https://artmusicscotland.org/nordicmusicjourneys2025 by 10pm on Sunday 24 August 2025.
