Repertoire St Petersburg Triptychs film score, by Eddie McGuire
Description
This is the latest of a series of 'triptychs' in which I have created music for James Cowan's artwork videos. Both James and I, on separate occasions have visited St Petersburg. My first was in 1988 as part of a Scotland-USSR Society delegation when I took part in performances at Burns Suppers. And my most recent was in 2003 when Edinburgh Youth Orchestra and Evelyn Glennie performed my 'Prazdnik', a celebration of the city's 300th anniversary. So it was with great pleasure that I agreed to provide scores for the Cowan videos, a nostalgic view of the modern city. Although at present using 'Sibelius Sounds', the scores are designed as a live concert suite and Hector and Shinobu Scott have agreed to explore opportunities for a live presentation of the music and videos.
