Nordic Music Days 2027: Call for Works

Deadline: 24 Aug 2026

Description

Call for works open for Nordic Music Days 2027 – submit proposals by 24 August

Nordic Music Days will return to Helsinki in November 2027, and we would now like to invite you to make a submission to the open call. The call is open until 24 August.

The NMD 2027 Open Call has six categories:

artists (performing own works/ sound art practice)
electronic and acousmatic works
ensemble works
installation and sound based works
orchestral works
self-produced cinema works

We welcome one submission to one of the six categories from all composers and artists living in, or from, Åland, Denmark, the Faroe Islands, Finland, Greenland, Iceland, Norway, Sápmi, Sweden, or Scotland. We welcome one submission to the ensemble or orchestral categories from all composers living in Estonia, Latvia or Lithuania.

The festival program will be curated by a five-member curator team: David Fennessy from Scotland, Jana Winderen from Norway, Juhani Nuorvala from Finland, Kajsa Antonsson from Sweden, and Þráinn Hjálmarsson from Iceland. The team is curious about where contemporary sound and music are at and wishes to make a festival that echoes what is going on across the Nordics, Baltics and Scotland.

Full call details can be downloaded from the website in large text word or PDF format.
