SCO Soundbox - New Artist Development Programme
Deadline: 15 Jan 2023
Applications are now open for Soundbox - a platform for emerging music creators to experiment with the chamber music format, expand their creative practice and explore new ideas, new sounds and new music. It is an opportunity for artists from any musical or cultural background, including those not traditionally associated with the classical music world, to take essential time to explore and develop their work with guidance and support from the Scottish Chamber Orchestra’s team of mentors led by our Associate Composer Jay Capperauld.
Participants will receive a financial grant and a commission fee, and work together over 12 months to create new pieces of work for the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. These pieces will be shared with audiences in 2024 as we celebrate the Orchestra's 50th anniversary.
Through this programme, we are seeking to develop relationships with individuals who come from historically under-represented groups or communities, such as those from ethnic minorities, people with a disability and socio-economically impacted groups.
We recognise that artists and music creators pursue many different routes. We are interested in hearing your individual story!
